Canopy can be made of plexiglass or, for more particular requirements, of acrylic. Acrylic is a material of the similar chemical composition as plexiglass. Local manufacturer Galenika has used brand name clirit and produces it since 1960.
Plexiglass is the name of the thermoplastic mass-PMMA (Poly Methyl-Methacrylate). This name is protected under the name PLEXIGLAS since 1933 when it was found by a German scientist Otto Rohm.
Acrylic sheet can be from 1 to 10 mm thick, and maximum dimension is 2100x3000mm. In colorless form, it is transparented up to 92%. Weight of a 1m2 of an acrylic which is 8mm thick, is 9.52 kg.

Classic cantilevered canopy over the entrance and terrace

They are distinctive for the method of cross-anchoring of the cantilevers into the wall as well as for their great length. They are recommended for widths up to 1.5 m due to the significant loading of the wall. If there are concrete poles at a certain distance, cantilever beams can operate up to 3m, but it is recommended to consult with the project designer first. They are usually made of iexan, but in exclusive versions a special kind of Plexiglas or acrylic is used.
